Hello from Ghana!

I have not been able to post for the last couple of days because of our travels down to Cape Coast. While there, we visited Kakum National Park, Elmina Castle, a fishing village, and a beautiful beach. The canopy walk, 135 feet high, was so wonderful.....and a little scary!

Tonight we say our goodbyes. The Profesa is having a wonderful farewell celebration for us. I am in the office now to type this to you, but will go back now to join the fun.

Thank you again for all your support. Tomorrow we come home to you to share our stories of this amazing experience.

Love,
Kim

Health Seminar

Stephanie conducted her Health Seminar this afternoon. The female Profesa students were taking notes and attentively listening to her presentation. It was very well received! They were so appreciative of the Lunapads/Health Care Packages. She did an amazing job!

Clara is now an International Artist!

Clara presented her artwork to the Profesa Academy today. The five paintings were loved by all. So beautiful!

Webpage Winner!

Everyone worked very hard on their webpages this week. It was difficult to select a winner as they were all fantastic.
Congratulations to Caroline's Team!

Our Last Day at Profesa...

We woke this morning to be greeted by the hottest day yet! Yikes! We are careful to drink lots of water and stay out of the sun.

We had a lot of packages to bring to the school this morning......Lunapads/health care packages, soccer balls, books for the local high school, and gifts for the students. At the moment, the teams of students are finishing up their individual webpages. The judging will take place in about an hour! Special thanks to John McDaid who was extremely helpful in assisting us with the Drupal.

More to come in a bit....providing we have Internet service.

Love,
Kim

Ghana Life....

Knitty Bears

The teddy bears were a big hit with the schoolchildren.

Have I mentioned how HOT it is?!

The heat and humidity are incredible!

Good Morning From Ghana!

This morning we had the opportunity to read at a local elementary school. The children where thrilled to see us. Everyone was all smiles! We brought them about 100 books collected by Melville Elementary School. Please enjoy the photos!

What a night!

Last night, after visiting with the Profesa students' families, we all had dinner together on the balcony. Theresa had made us a wonderful meal of pasta with a VERY spicy Ghanaian sauce and chicken. It was great. After we had our nightly "circle", where we discuss our day and our feelings about what we are experiencing here, the rains began..... It was the most magnificent storm I have ever seen! The rain, thunder, and lightning kept us all hunkered in on the balcony for quite some time. The kids loved it!

Web Design

We are back at Profesa working in teams with the students developing web pages!

I am so proud of everyone.....

So Happy!

Kids are still excited about teaching and seeing the little ones at the school this morning! Everyone is happy and healthy.

It is so beautiful here.

More Teaching Photos!

Teaching!

We had the opportunity to read/teach at a local school this morning. Most of the kids read to elementary school students while Nick taught the Pythagorean Theorem and I taught the Quadratic Formula. The students were eager to learn and were so happy to have us part of their learning community.

Success!

What a great first day! Side by side, we worked with the Ghana students. We had a bit of a problem with internet connection and the computers working properly....but all in all terrific day.

It is so wonderful, and heartwarming, to see our students working side by side with the Ghanaian students.

More photos and videos tomorrow....I promise!

Love,
Kim

First Day of School!

First day teaching at the Profesa School. All the students are so eager and excited to work together to teach web design. We have broken up into 12 groups......1 Infinity student with 3 Profesa students. I lead a group discussion this morning on key elements of a successful website.
More to come soon!
